A different approach to learning
Saratoga Sisters Farm School is a small-group enrichment program for children ages 6–10. Designed for families who value hands-on learning, life skills, social connection, and real-life experience, Farm School invites children into the meaningful rhythms of a working farm.
Here on the farm, children learn by helping, observing, listening, creating, caring, and participating in the kinds of everyday work that build confidence and character.
While Farm School is warm, relational, and deeply welcoming, it is not simply a place to spend the afternoon. Each gathering is intentionally planned to provide meaningful educational enrichment through seasonal themes, story, observation, practical skill-building, and hands-on farm experiences. Children are not only cared for here — they are actively engaged in learning that helps them grow in responsibility, confidence, curiosity, and real-world understanding.
What makes Farm School different
This is not school re-created outdoors. It is a slower, richer kind of educational enrichment shaped by animals, gardens, seasons, stories, and useful work.
Children experience the farm as a real working place with real responsibilities. Through hands-on learning, observation, and meaningful participation, they begin to understand how food, weather, care, patience, and contribution are all connected.
Because the farm is always changing, the learning does not stop when the afternoon ends. Each lesson is part of a larger rhythm that helps children stay connected to the life of the farm between gatherings, making the experience both meaningful in the moment and lasting over time.

How the rhythm works
Farm School is more than a twice-a-month class. Each lesson continues between gatherings so children stay connected to the life of the farm even when they are at home.
This helps tie each gathering together and keeps children connected to the living rhythm of the farm.
Children gather for stories, seasonal learning, practical skill-building, and hands-on farm experiences.
On the farm
Each child receives a simple Between-the-Weeks Farm Rhythm to practice, observe, or discuss at home.
At home
Students return ready to share what they observed, created, helped with, or learned.

Who Farm School is for
Farm School is especially appealing to families who value a hands-on approach to learning, practical life skills, time outdoors, and a childhood rooted in real life. It tends to be a natural fit for children who are curious, imaginative, observant, eager to help, or simply ready for a more meaningful kind of educational experience.
While many homeschool families may feel more at home here, Farm School is not limited to homeschool students. Because sessions meet after school hours, the program is open to any child ages 6–10 who would thrive in a calm, thoughtful, small-group setting where educational enrichment, real participation, and real-life learning all come together.
Rooted in Lyon County, welcoming western Kentucky families
Farm School takes place at Saratoga Sisters Farm in Eddyville and is designed to serve families across Lyon County and the surrounding western Kentucky region, including Paducah, Benton, Princeton, Cadiz, Dawson Springs, and nearby rural communities.
We want this to feel deeply local, warmly personal, and worth the drive for families seeking something more meaningful than a typical co-op, playgroup, or after-school activity. In a region shaped by agriculture, small-town community, and the rhythms of the land, Farm School offers children a chance to experience hands-on educational enrichment in a setting that is a real, grounded, and increasingly hard to find.
For many families, this will be the kind of opportunity that is not easily found anywhere else nearby.

Join us at the beginning
We are opening Saratoga Sisters Farm School with a small founding group so the experience can remain warm, personal, and deeply rooted from the very beginning. Founding families will help shape this farm learning community and receive first access to future opportunities as they grow on the farm. Our hope is that this first semester becomes the start of something lasting for local children and families.

No. Farm School may be especially appealing to homeschool families, but it is open to any child ages 6–10 who would thrive in an after-school farm-based setting.

Farm School is not a day care program. It is a thoughtfully planned educational enrichment experience designed around hands-on learning, practical life skills, seasonal themes, story, observation, and meaningful participation in the rhythms of a working farm. While children are, of course, cared for in a warm and welcoming setting, the purpose of Farm School is to provide a richer kind of after-school experience that helps them grow in confidence, responsibility, curiosity, and real-world understanding.

Not at all. Children do not need previous farm experience to participate.

Because Farm School is designed as a small-group learning experience, we ask that enrolled students participate independently so they can fully engage with the group and the rhythm of the program. In most cases, parents and non-enrolled siblings will not stay during regular sessions. That said, we do hope to offer occasional special gatherings or family-friendly opportunities on the farm where parents and siblings can be included.

Each child receives a Between-the-Weeks Farm Rhythm with a simple home connection to help continue the lesson in a practical, family-friendly way.

We understand that family schedules, illness, and unexpected conflicts do come up. Because each session is part of a larger seasonal rhythm, we encourage families to attend as consistently as possible in order to get the fullest benefit from the program. When a child misses a session, we will do our best to help them stay connected through the Between-the-Weeks Farm Rhythm and any simple follow-up materials that can be shared.

Farm life does not stop when the weather changes, and many meaningful farm experiences can still happen in light rain or cooler conditions. We plan to continue meeting in a variety of normal weather conditions, with activities adjusted as needed. In the case of severe weather or unsafe conditions, families will be notified promptly if a session needs to be modified, postponed, or canceled.
